Lion's ROAR Marketing

How Freelance Switch Jump Started My Business

I am happy to announce that last Friday, Lion’s ROAR Marketing was handsomely rewarded with two new contracts!  One is working with Southwest BPO developing website content for a company called Caphchun Media and another is writing articles and blog posts for CopyPress.  I am very excited to start new work with these two new entities and let my ROAR be heard.

None of this would have been possible however if I was not introduced to a wonderful website called Freelance Switch.  I first found out about Freelance Switch from an acquaintance I met at a Creative Connects mixer.  Refer back to my previous post to read more.  A man by the name of Roger Campos and I had a conversation about how to gain clients and he said one of the tools he used was Freelance Switch.  I had explained how I tried to use Freelancer.com and ODesk.com but none were really able to give me work.  This changed drastically through Freelance Switch.

So what exactly is Freelance Switch all about?  Well it’s funny you should ask that, Freelance Switch is, “a community of expert freelancers from around the world.”  That’s not all though.  Freelance Switch allows you to do the following:

  • Find Work: Freelance Switch hosts postings by legit companies who are seeking legit freelancers.  There is a fee however to apply for these postings.  $7.00 a month, but it is well worth shelling out the 7 bucks.
  • Post Work: If you need a freelancer, this site also allows people/companies seeking to post a free ad on Freelance Switch.
  • Resources: There are a plethora of tools and resources available to users ranging from: Project Tools, Financial Tools, Website Developments tools.  Pretty much everything you need to establish your freelance business.
  • Blog: Look at their homepage to see daily posts on the extremely relevant readings on the dos and don’ts of freelancing.
  • Forum: Chances are that you are not the only one with interesting situations with either business dilemmas or unique clients.  This forum posts great topics so many people fail to address.

I should also mention that Freelance Switch tends to be geared more towards the creative/marketing crowd.  If you are looking for work with reputable companies, this is that resource.  Freelance Switch focuses mainly on the following categories in their job postings section:

  • Design
  • Development
  • Writing
  • Illustration
  • Flash
  • Misc (A mosh posh of other postings from video to copy editing)

The postings I focused on were Writing since I am very limited on my design and development skills.

These are only just a few features of Freelance Switch, Click here to see the whole kit and kabottle.  Also please note and check out Envato which is the parent company that Freelance Switch is derived from, which also has a lot of other resources for freelancers and the like.
