U.S. Army Chaplain Corps Video Shoot

My most recent project as a Program Analyst/Marketing Coordinator/Worker Bee at my government contracting office was working on the video shoot for the U.S. Army Chaplin Corps.  The last shoot I worked on was for Fairfax County Public Schools back in 2008 when I was an intern and a much younger man.  The shoot this time was located at Fort Jackson, South Carolina from January 24-25.

My main purpose at the shoot was to be a Production Assistant which means carrying equipment around, standing in front of the camera to get the right angle , and just plain ‘ol looking fabulous.  Just kidding (sort of) but it was essentially to provide support and ensure the client’s vision for branding was being executed while we were in the throws of filming this video.

Regardless, the shoot was a great experience to see how much work and expertise goes into making a quality video for our nation’s Army.  I was able to work with a very talented film production team located in Kansas City where the video is being edited at the moment.

The whole premise of the video is to show that the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps is supportive of a plethora of different faiths and belief systems and each and every Chaplain has immense respect for the different views the Army Community shares.  It also aims to reveal the dedication and contributions made by Army Chaplains to ensure our nation is safe from outside threats, sometimes even more so than the typical combat soldier.  During the shoot the crew interviewed many different kinds of people from the Army Community who shared their stories of either how they became inspired to join the Chaplaincy or how an Army Chaplain helped them through a difficult time while being a part of the Army Community.    Also, when you think of the word “Chaplain” you think preachy.  That’s not the case however in the U.S. Army (most of the time).  Chaplains are there to provide leadership, morale and to strengthen the moral fibers of the Army Community.

I think the video is going to turn out to be phenomenal and people around the nation and the globe will be able to see what an integral role the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps play in providing a valuable service to this country.  I was extremely honored to be a part of the filming of this project and can not wait to share the end result.
