Mashable: Get the Most Relevant/Engaging Social Media News

One blog I check religiously for the latest in social media, marketing, technology etc is Mashable.com.  Mashable is “the top source for news in social and digital media, technology and web culture.”  On a monthly basis they receive well over 30 million pageviews.  Their business authority on Technorati is #1 and Mashable’s Twitter has 2,141,124 followers.  If you haven’t seen or heard about Mashable then you’re probably living at the South Pole.

Enough about how high ranking Mashable is in the social media realms, let me tell you why I like Mashable so much.

The first thing I like about their site is the posts they write are short and to the point.  A lot of blogs write essays for their posts and that’s not what blogging and social media is all about.  People want what’s important in a short succinct delivery.  Mashable hits the nail on the head in this respect.

Another reason is the continuous update of new articles that are published.  Rest assure every hour or so new articles are published so you are always up-to-date on current events going on in the social media world.  Almost consider it the CNN of social media.

Some sections of their blog/website to be sure to browse through are:

  • How to:  There’s something here for everyone here with lists for how to improve business, graphic design tutorials, and social media usage.
  • Guide Books:  Two books are located here on how to leverage and utilize Facebook and Twitter to their highest ability.
  • Mashable Awards: Log-in to your Twitter or Facebook account to vote for categories of social media vehicles which you know will have the social media stamp of approval if they win.

This is just one of the tools I’ve added to my social media kit as a budding entrepreneur/marketing professional during my early career.  Please take a peek at Mashable and let me know if you also are a Mashable fan.
