7 Quick and Dirty Twitter Tips

To all the Tweetiepies out there, here is a quick and dirty list of 7 Twitter tips which will increase followers and help you increase the ROI of your Twitter experience.

1. Profile Picture:  People want to put a face with a name.  Placing a photo of you (or even a logo or icon that represents you) will help people associate a brand with your Twitter account.

2. Twitter Background:  Refer back to my previous post on the Twitter background I made for Lion’s ROAR Marketing.  Creating a unique Twitter background will also assist with branding of your Twitter account.  Deviating from the standard Twitter background will attract more attention to your account since its unique.  Keep it simple though and stick with what you know looks good.  If you are feeling creative, all you need is Paint and PowerPoint to make a decent background :-)!

3.We Follow: This is a great resource to gain followers and is free to sign up.  Register your Twitter account and associate five unique categories to what your Twitter account represents.  Make sure they’re unique so you can have more visibility to other Tweeters.  I saw a lot more followers once I registered on We Follow.

4. Hash Tags: By adding a hash tag # to the key words in your Tweet, other Tweetiepies will see what you’re tweeting about and if it interests them, then they shall follow you.

5. @ Mentions: Add @name of person following into your tweets to increase exposure of your tweet.  There have been so many times where I tweet something and mention someone I’m following and have received retweets and mentions.

6. Username: After I changed my username from RRosado87 to RyRosado I also saw more followers.  By making your username something more scanable and personal, Tweetiepies will be more encouraged to follow you.  You seem like a real person versus a typical screename.

7. Tweet and Retweet: This tip is probably a no brainer but start and jump into conversations.  That’s what Twitter is all about and will increase your self-exposure.

So there you have it.  Seven quick and dirty Twitter tips that will be sure to increase the number of followers and help you get the most out of your Twitter experience.  So Tweet away and follow me on http://twitter.com/ryrosado.
